SprutCAM Machinist

If the bulk of your machining is 2 or 2.5D milling, then the SprutCAM Machinist version is the one for you.
SprutCAM includes it's very own simple to learn and use parametric 2D Geometry creation tools. This allows you to very quickly and accurately generate your own 2D geometry required for machining or fixtures etc.
SprutCAM Machinist supports the import of 2D and 3D models, but any cutter paths can only be calculated directly from 2D geometry (Lines / arcs etc.).
As a lot of CAD data nowadays is supplied as 3D models (*.igs *.3dm etc.), conveniently, when importing 3D models, SprutCAM automatically creates the 2D geometry that can be used for any of the 2 / 2.5D machining operations in SprutCAM Machinist:

In previous versions of SprutCAM it was sometimes difficult to obtain information about the models geometry, in the latest version you simply have to double left click on the required surface, and SprutCAM automatically adds dimensions for you. If you double left click on a hole feature, then SprutCAM will also automatically find all of the holes of the same diameter:

Available machining operations in the Machinist version include:

Rather than 'waffle on' about how easy and fast the SprutCAM Machinist software really is to use, we prefer to actually show it in action preparing an actual part from beginning to end.
Click the image below to view a narrated SprutCAM 7 Machinist introductory video  (11 minutes long) which shows the complete process for generating all of the cutter paths - G-code and setting sheet for a 2.5D part in less than 10 minutes. (ideally requires speakers or headphones).
